Friends Only

as of September 4, 2004
(the date on this entry will change periodically to keep it top-level)

I'm friends only and not actively seeking new LJ friends right now, so adding me does not guarantee I will add one back. However, if you've gotten this far, you might be on the right track. Why don't you take a look at my LiveJournal userinfo or my endless and obligatory "about me" page and drop me a line? I always appreciate it when people take the time to introduce themselves. It keeps the friends list friendly.

Notice.

If you received a "has removed you" message, it's probably because I don't think you're getting anything out of this. And I feel like sharing about this with a very small group of people right now.

Pathetic book list for 2008.

Meme from thefridayfive by way of lianeviolet:

1. Who is your best friend? Michele. (She is bloodandivory on LJ but never uses it.)

2. Why did you become friends? and 3. How did you meet? I joined Michele's Yahoo! Group Loving Lecter in the summer of 1999 after reading Hannibal. I liked that even though she was 19 years older than me (I was 15 at the time) she spoke to me like I was an adult with valid opinions and genuine thoughts, as opposed to just another dumb teenager. (Of which we had a few in the group, I might add.) We shared a lot of other interests as well, like musicals and other books we'd read, and especially horror movies. We were both liberals, and her location (Boston) was so different than mine (Missouri) so we talked a lot about politics and how they differed for where we called home. We also both identified as bisexual, with a more obvious interest in men - older, of course, which we happily shared! Basically, it was fun getting to know Michele because she always told interesting stories about her life, even though I was often madly jealous at the fact that she was older and had so much more to tell than I did.

4. Why have you stayed friends? We became a couple! In July of 2001 I went to visit her a second time (the first time was in December 2000) and we both admitted we were attracted to each other. It came on the heels of a newfound and shared obsession over an actor and so I guess we were a romantic mindset. I hated going home for my last year of high school, but we managed to make a long-distance relationship work. We became engaged shortly after this, and I moved to Boston permanently in 2002 to live with her. It's harder to live with someone than it is to love them, but we've managed to make out okay. Even being here in Missouri now, where it's very tough for us, we're still together. It was six years on July 25th.

5. How long (realistically) do you think you'll be friends? Forever. And I hope I didn't just jinx myself.

Movies I have seen in 2007 - a work in progress.

Links to respective IMDb pages and additional info will be added at leisure. Asterisks indicate movies I have seen before and am showing to someone, or that we've all seen before and are watching again for fun.

Pathetic list for further reading for 2007.

hatfullofstars asked me what I was reading right now, or needed to be reading anyway, so I thought I'd make a bulleted list because I love those damn things.  I think I may love making bulleted lists more than I do reading, which is probably the problem here.  I mean, this one is only a tiny bit longer than the list of ones I've already read this year.

Back Burner:

  • Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronté
  • A Garden of Earthly Delights by Joyce Carol Oates
  • Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier
  • Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronté
  • The Secret Bride of Crannoch Castle by Kate Frederick
  • Scruples by Judith Krantz
  • Childwold by Joyce Carol Oates
  • Night-Side by Joyce Carol Oates

I'm sure I'll have all of these done in no time!  *proceeds to torch self*

Women.

I didn't think I liked thin little women but after hunting up pics for two hours apparently I actually do. Or maybe it's just that I don't find thinness attractive, but these women are still alluring to me anyway. I can forgive them for not eating, I guess.

FergieCollapse ) is like the world's worst everything, ever, and I am so embarrassed to have her on this list, but I think I'm in love with her. Seriously. I used to just make fun of her all the time, but now I make fun of her with what I can only call "train wreck reverence." I called her "a goddess" once, and found myself meaning it for half a second. Please. Send help.

Megan MullallyCollapse ) isn't thin, but she's not exactly the size for me either. She is hot, though. A fine comeback after that horrible business up above.

“We've been through a lot of hard years out here. Mean winters. Small hauls, no fish. And that was long before the horses. See, when you live on an island, you catch a cold - it's everybody's cold.

[...] Ever since that girl's been gone, things have been better.”

“They say these waters
Aren't what they used to be,
But I've got people back on land
Who count on me.
So if you see my Downeaster ‘Alexa’
And you work with the rod
And the reel
Tell my wife I am trawling Atlantis
And I still have my hands
On the wheel.”
